Ellen Rothman is a self-taught abstract painter who works primarily in large scale acrylics. A lifelong art collector, she eventually discovered that she could create the kinds of beautiful paintings she had long admired and collected. After a long and successful career as an attorney, Ellen transitioned fully into her artistic practice and joined the ICB community about 10 years ago.

Her goal is always to disconnect her mind from her brush—to find the freedom to explore momentary feelings and desires that bring lush colors and organic shapes to the canvas. Ellen’s paintings aim to both delight and provoke; she hopes her work stirs emotion, sparks reflection, and invites viewers to experience both joy and a touch of unease.
